    Job Title: Associate Scientist

    Job Description

    The Associate Scientist processes clinical samples and conducts validation/verification studies of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based molecular assays within specific turnaround times.

    Responsibilities

    + Serve as a technical contributor for the Molecular/NGS laboratory and perform clinical tasks with precision.

    + Prepare and isolate nucleic acids from oncology specimens, such as DNA/RNA extraction from FFPE tissues and blood samples.

    + Operate complex laboratory equipment, including high throughput liquid handlers and Illumina sequencers (NovaSeq6000), and perform instrument maintenance procedures.

    + Review and troubleshoot NGS sequencing runs.

    + Evaluate and implement new NGS technologies.

    + Demonstrate and execute excellent laboratory best practices and troubleshooting principles.

    + Support the timely processing and reporting of oncology samples to internal and external collaborators.

    + Pay attention to detail and precisely follow instrument and assay SOPs.

    + Maintain detailed notes of experimental parameters with proper documentation.

    + Independently perform lab procedures with minimal supervision.

    + Prepare reports and presentations to communicate results in group meetings.

    + Support FDA, NYS DOH, CAP/CLIA, and other regulatory agency inspections.

    + Provide support and contribute to QC and QA activities as needed.

    + Participate in training sessions and workshops.

    + Collaborate with MDs and Molecular Pathologists.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Essential Skills

    + 3+ years of experience in molecular diagnostics and/or high throughput clinical laboratories.

    + Experience working with typical oncology specimens, including Formalin-fixed (FFPE) tissue samples and blood in clinical and/or high-volume molecular diagnostics settings.

    + Demonstrated understanding of molecular biology techniques and best troubleshooting principles.

    + Experience with clinical oncology NGS assays, including DNA and RNA-seq (TSO500, MSK, etc.), WES protocols, and various target-enrichment approaches.

    + Experience working in CAP/CLIA regulatory environments, WA state requirements, and HIPAA regulations, with an understanding of the importance of patient data privacy.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Experience with Clarity LIMS/LabVantage software is preferred.

    + Technologist in Molecular Biology, MB(ASCP) certification is preferred.

    Work Environment

The role requires adherence to CAP/CLIA regulatory standards and patient data privacy regulations. There is a focus on precision, thorough documentation, and collaboration with medical professionals.

    This is a Contract position based out of Bothell, Washington.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00/hr.
