    Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist II Job Description

     

    We are seeking a dedicated Medical Lab Scientist II to join our hospital medical laboratory team. The ideal candidate will perform routine and complex technical procedures, ensuring accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.

    Responsibilities

    + Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.

    + Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.

    + Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.

    + Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.

    + Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.

    + Report accurate and timely test results.

    + Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

    + Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.

    + Assist with the processing of specimens when needed.

    + Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

    + Licensed Medical Technologist

    + Hospital Medical Technologist experience

    + Core Lab

    + Blood Banking

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + MT license

    + Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory CLIA State requirements.

    + Minimum 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.

    + State Medical Technologist license may be required.

    + ASCP or AMT certification preferred or required.

    + Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

    + Proficient with computers.

    + Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.

    + High level of attention to detail.

    + Strong communication and organizational skills.

    + Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.

    + Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

    Work Environment

    The position is based in a hospital medical laboratory within the core lab. The environment requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment. Flexibility in work hours may be needed to accommodate business needs.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract position based out of Jacksonville, Florida.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
