    The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in the execution and oversight of a U.S. Army contract, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, timelines, and quality standards. This role involves day-to-day coordination of personnel, subcontractors, logistics, and documentation while ensuring adherence to all federal, DoD, and company policies.

     

    Manages the day-to-day activities for a moderately complex Technical or non-Technical project. Manages the administrative/operational leadership of a project within the program guidelines set by the Program Manager and customer. Monitors project to ensure work scope, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained. Provides the coordination between resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received. May conduct performance/project analyses to benefit future/other projects/missions/programs. Comprehensive knowledge of the field's concepts and principles. Leads and directs the work of other employees and has full authority for personnel decisions. Administers departmental policies and procedures, evaluates results and performance, and assists with the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies. Typically requires BA and 5-7 years.

    Responsibilities

    + Contract Support & Execution:

    + Assist in managing the day-to-day execution of contract requirements in support of U.S. Army operations.

    + Coordinate scheduling, staffing, and material needs to meet project milestones.

    + Ensure that work is performed in accordance with contractual obligations, SOWs (Statements of Work), and Army regulations

    + Project Coordination:

    + Track project timelines, deliverables, and milestones using project management tools.

    + Prepare and submit reports, daily logs, and updates to the Project Manager and Army COR (Contracting Officer’s Representative).

    + Maintain documentation for compliance audits and inspections.

    + Personnel & Subcontractor Management:

    + Support the hiring, onboarding, and supervision of site personnel and subcontractors.

    + Ensure all staff meet required qualifications, certifications, and security clearance levels.

    + Monitor labor hours, timesheets, and resource allocations.

    + Compliance & Safety:

    + Enforce all federal, DoD, OSHA, and site-specific safety regulations.

    + Assist in Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) processes.

    + Support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs.

    + Communication & Liaison:

    + Serve as a point of contact between field staff, the Project Manager, and Army personnel.

    + Attend site meetings, briefings, and inspections as needed.

    + Support coordination with logistics, procurement, finance, and other departments.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

    + 5-20 years of experience supporting government contracts or project management in military/DoD environments.

    + Familiarity with FAR/DFARS, contract administration, and Army operations.

    + Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

    + Proficiency in MS Office and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).

    + Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance (if required by contract).

    + Valid driver’s license; ability to travel (as required).

    Desired Qualifications:

    + PMP or CAPM certification.

    + OSHA 30-Hour Certification or equivalent.

    + Experience with LOGCAP, USACE, or AFCAP contracts.

    + Military experience or prior work with the U.S. Army.
