Position Description
The Audio Technician - Specialized Skills Instructor is a full time Civil Service position in the Metro Parks and Recreation department. This position is responsible for providing programming, instruction, recording, sound engineering and lighting in Metro Parks Studios and Theaters; to assist with logistic and production elements of Cultural Arts programming including concerts, exhibitions, recordings, performances, and other Park Events as needed.
Metro’s Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of facilities and programs throughout Davidson County. Currently, the department oversees nearly 16,000 acres of open space, including 184 parks and 107 miles of greenway. Metro Parks offers after school programs for children, activities for seniors (55+), cultural arts classes, dog parks, fitness classes, nature programs, sports leagues, ice hockey, art galleries, and much more. It is the mission of Metro Parks and Recreation to sustainably and equitably provide everyone in Davidson County with an inviting network of parks and greenways that offer health, wellness and quality of life through recreation, conservation and community.

Typical Duties
+ Setting up and taking down of sound and lighting equipment for performances.
+ Operating mixing consoles for recording sessions and maintaining files.
+ Maintain equipment in recording studios.
+ Perform routine maintenance and accounting of equipment.
+ Provide programming to Parks participants.
+ Serve as team leader to seasonal audio technician staff.
+ Assist team members in monitoring facilities as needed.
+ Report maintenance and inventory issues.
+ Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in audio engineering or a related field and one (1) year experience as an audio technician.

LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid Driver License

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ College degree in audio engineering or related field
+ Experience with audio software stage lighting
+ Experience programming with youth and adults
+ Experience with sound editing and recording equipment (e.g., mixing consoles)
+ Knowledge of audio metering, equipment, formats, and software

Metro offers a generous core benefit package to eligible employees who are regularly and consistently working 20 or more hours per week.
