    VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital has opportunities available for experienced Veterinary Assistants to join our fast-paced, AAHA-accredited, 24-hour emergency, specialty referral, and general practice in Downers Grove, Illinois. Veterinary Assistants will primarily work alongside our ER and ICU technicians to assist in providing patient care. Veterinary Assistants must be motivated and dedicated workers with a strong work ethic, excellent client communication skills and well demonstrated professionalism. This position does require candidates to be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and demonstrate attention to detail while handling heavy caseloads. Specialties include: Oncology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency and Critical Care. We are currently hiring for: Emergency/Critical Care

     

    + The **Emergency and Critical Care** position(s) is full time position. Schedules are offered in three 12 hour shifts per week, or four 10 hour shifts per week. Schedule does include some weekends and holidays. Schedules for ER are on a rotating schedule, with required weekend shifts every other weekend.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Requirements:

    + Dependable attendance is required

    + Telephone and computer skills are necessary

    + Client communication and education

    + Husbandry

    + Efficiency – organize daily duties and procedures to best utilize staff’s time.

    + Flexibility – working to ensure that the job is done properly

    + Medical records – charges, medical history, medications, laboratory reports, etc.

    + Radiology – x-ray technique and safety

    + Assisting technicians in diagnostics

    + Pharmacy – familiarity with drugs, creating labels, filling prescriptions

     

    Hourly Rate: $18.00-$28.00/hr. rate is experience based. Knowledge assessment required at time of interview.
