We are currently in need of a Program Assistant who is involved with planning, organizing, coordinating, implementing, and assisting with the activities, programs, and events for the Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department. The ideal candidate is skilled in providing administrative oversight, management, and operation of recreational or nature-based programs, facilities, and events. In this role, you will...

+ Plan, develop, implement, and promote recreational-based programs and assist others in planning, developing, implementing, and promoting recreational-based programs centered around a facility or assigned area(s).

+ Assist with division-wide special events and coverage of other beaches and water access sites as needed.

+ Assist with summer camps, specialty camps, and other facility needs.

+ Responsible for coordinating maintenance and contractual work to ensure safe, clean parks for customers renting amenities within parks.

+ Schedule and coordinate reservations, groups, instructors, contracts, and registrations utilizing reservation software.

+ Assist with creating and distributing promotional information for recreational programs and facilities.

+ Partner with volunteers to optimize recreational opportunities for the public.

+ Collect fees for services rendered and assist with facility rentals and daily closeouts.

About the Schedule

Work Hours:

+ Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

+ Assigned work schedules may vary due to split shifts, rotations, emergencies, etc.

+ Hours and scheduled days to be determined based on division needs at the time of job posting. The predicted shift will be in the morning/first shift, but can vary on occasion.

+ Must be flexible as nights, weekends, and holiday work may be required.

About You:

Minimum Qualifications:

+ A High School Diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years of experience in recreational programming or in a related area.

+ A valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

+ Recreational programming experience preferred.

+ Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP).

+ Money handling and customer service skills preferred.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

About Everything Else:

Pay: $21.85 - 24/hr, based on experience.
