    Job Description:

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    + Develops and maintains standards of clinical practice and participates in the development of medical policies and procedures.

    + Provides supervision to clinical staff. Supervises and assists with the evaluation of both employee and pre-employment physical exams, illnesses and injuries. Reviews and provides information regarding clinical questions raised by clients and patients.

    + Ensures that all DOT/FTA/FRA regulations are maintained in reference to all physicals, fit-for duty evaluations, and return-to-work clearances.

    + Serves as expert medical witness at union grievances, arbitrations, hearings and court proceedings as requested by Labor Relations and/or the Deputy Attorney General.

    + Review medical documentation connected with Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) and reasonable accommodation requests, as requested.

    + Serves as the Medical Review Officer for drug testing programs, which includes providing current information or changes in regulations to appropriate corporate and field personnel.

    + Serves as a consultant for all health sites for difficult patient cases, adverse health trends and safety concerns. Introduces new medical equipment and regulations when required.

    + Examines employees and submit reports on the medical fitness of employees resuming employment after absence because of illness/injury.

    + Performs routine physician duties, including examining patients, evaluating cases and directing referrals for treatment and care. Confirms orders of nurses, laboratory tests, physical therapy, x- rays, electrocardiograms, etc. and interprets findings.

    + Performs post-offer physicals, periodic examinations and DOT/ CDL exams. Provides medical examinations and surveillance in response to environmental hazards.

    + Contacts private physicians of employees to discuss abnormal findings.

    + Collaborates with ancillary staff (nurses, physician assistants, and medical assistants) to ensure adequate and proper handling of all clinical visits.

    + As the MRO, oversees the MROA and MRO office

    Education, Experience and Qualifications:

    + NJ State Medical license required

    + Must be Board Certified in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine

    + DOT/medical examiner certification required

    + Must have at least five (5) years of experience in Occupational Medicine.

    + Medical Review Officer (MRO) Certification highly desirable. If not, must obtain within 1 year of hire

    + Basic Life Support certification required

    Knowledge and Skills:

    + Must have at least five (5) years of experience in Occupational Medicine or similar, including urgent care or DOT exam provider.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

    + NJ State Medical license required.

    + Must be Board Certified in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine.

    + DOT/medical examiner certification required

    + Medical Review Officer (MRO) Certification, if not, must obtain within 1 year of hire

    + Basic Life Support certification required
