Job Description
Position Overview
Join the Michigan House of Representatives as aUser Support Specialist I, a key member of our Help Desk Team. You’ll provide hands-on technical support to both in-person and remote users, ensuring smooth operations across our legislative campus. This is a dynamic role for someone who thrives in a professional environment, is eager to learn, is detail oriented and enjoys solving problems with technology. This is a fully onsite position.
Responsibilities
+ Serve as the first point of contact for help desk inquiries via phone, email, and MS Teams.
+ Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues; escalate as needed.
+ Support legislators and staff during live legislative sessions.
+ Install and configure desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and printers.
+ Maintain and update intranet and public website content.
+ Test and validate House software and equipment.
+ Create product announcements, onboarding materials, and training presentations.
+ Provide feedback to leadership on user needs and service improvements.
+ Participate in project work and training initiatives.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Familiarity with Windows-based computer equipment and operating systems.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and Visual Studio.
+ Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical users.
+ Strong professionalism, discretion, and interpersonal skills.
+ Collaborative mindset with a drive to achieve team goals.
+ Self-motivated and proactive in problem-solving.
+ Familiarity with AI tools and the ability to teach others in their use.
Required Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
+ Associate’s degree in computer science or related field preferred.
+ Equivalent experience in a support role may be considered.
+ Strong customer service, presentation, and analytical skills.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office 365 is required.
