    Job Description

    The University of Washington Foster School’s Jack and Ann Rhodes Professional Sales Program is a nationally ranked program that provides students with the skills and experience needed to succeed in sales-focused careers. Through coursework, mentorship, practicum opportunities, and professional events, students learn to build and maintain business relationships, sell effectively, and lead teams.

     

    The Sales Program Director provides overall leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the program. This includes financial and administrative oversight, curriculum development, and implementation of program goals. The Director is also responsible for cultivating strong industry partnerships, overseeing a self-sustaining budget, and ensuring the program remains relevant and impactful in a dynamic marketplace.

     

    The ideal candidate will bring knowledge of the sales industry and sales management, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including industry partners, faculty, alumni, students, and donors.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial & Strategic Leadership

    + Lead the overall operations of the Professional Sales Program, including full oversight of an annual budget of approximately $500,000.

    + Develop and execute the strategic vision for the program, aligning goals with Foster School priorities and ensuring the program’s continued national prominence.

    + Build and lead a strong industry Advisory Board, serving as Chair. Responsibilities include setting agendas, driving initiatives, and maintaining active board engagement.

    + Provide annual reports to the Dean and Advisory Board, including key performance indicators such as marketing efforts, enrollment trends, student outcomes, financial results, and activity-based budgeting.

    + Partner with Foster School Advancement to support fundraising efforts for the program.

    Administration

    + Build and strengthen relationships within Foster, across UW, and with external business partners to expand student and program opportunities.

    + Partner with the Marketing and International Business Department Chair to recruit and hire well-qualified faculty and staff.

    + Oversee the student practicum experience, including internship placements, case competitions, career fairs, host orientations, and the annual Business Partner Appreciation event.

    + Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies in partnership with Foster’s Marketing and Communications team.

    + Represent the Professional Sales Program at internal and external events, conferences, and advisory boards to promote the program locally and nationally.

    + Lead student recruitment and admissions processes, including meeting with prospective and current students to discuss career goals and opportunities.

    Curriculum Development & Implementation

    + Lead continuous curriculum improvement, including new course development, content updates, and sequencing.

    + Collaborate with faculty on course design, syllabi, and program requirements.

    + Support diverse modes of course delivery (in-person, hybrid, and online).

    + Oversee approval and quality of practicum and internship opportunities to ensure alignment with program goals.

    Supervision

    + Recruit, supervise, and develop administrative staff, providing mentorship and ongoing performance feedback.

    + Oversee hiring, performance evaluations, and corrective actions as needed.

    Husky Sales Club

    + Provide oversight and encouragement for student involvement in the Husky Sales Club.

    Minimum Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, plus a minimum of 4 years of leadership experience (preferably in sales or a sales-related field).

    Additional Requirements:

    + Demonstrated success in strategic planning and execution.

    + Experience managing budgets and fiscal operations.

    + Strong track record of working with diverse stakeholders, including executives, advisory boards, faculty, students, and staff.

    + Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.

    + Supervisory and administrative experience with proven ability to lead and develop staff.

    + Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and highly collaborative environment.

    Desired:

    + Experience working in an academic setting with faculty.

    + Interest and ability to teach courses or guest lecture when program needs and funding allow. A concurrent faculty appointment would be required for teaching duties.

     

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $82,236.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $123,348.00 annual
