    Clinical Nurse Educator, MICU

    **Harborview Medical Center** has an outstanding opportunity for **Clinical Nurse Educator, MICU** .

    WORK SCHEDULE

    + 100% FTE, full-time.

     

    The MICU CNE position supports the clinical practice of inpatient Medical ICU staff through expert clinical education, evidence-based practice support, and policy development. In collaboration with key stakeholders, nursing leadership, and education peers, this position ensures the integration of best practices, regulatory standards, and continuous quality improvement into clinical practice.

     

    + Provides clinical education, guidance, and practice support within the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). Identifies gaps in nursing practice through analysis and evaluation, and partners with staff and leadership to develop and implement action plans.

    + Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates educational offerings designed to enhance the delivery of care. This includes the design and facilitation of classroom-based learning, in-services, staff education days, online learning modules, and annual competencies.

    + Facilitates training and supports care delivery for critical care patients in collaboration with Professional Development and Nursing Excellence (PDNE) team members and inter-professional peers. Coordinates a collaborative approach to address the dynamic and urgent needs critically ill patients, including just-in-time education and reference materials.

    + Supports organization-wide onboarding and orientation programs, continuing education, and professional development needs of clinical staff. Engages in organization-wide committees, councils, and program that drive quality, safety, staff engagement, and clinical excellence

    + Develops, updates, and maintains evidence-based nursing policies and protocols. Promotes adherence to clinical standards and evaluates outcomes for continuous quality improvement.

    + Integrates organizational standards, current research, quality initiatives, and relevant literature into policy and procedure development.

    + Collaborates with clinical experts and key stakeholders across the UW Medicine enterprise to ensure alignment of policies, procedures, and critical care nursing practice.

    + Reviews safety events and monitors nursing quality metrics to inform educational initiatives and practice improvements.

    + Supports monitoring of patient safety indicators and quality benchmarks; contributes to the design and implementation of quality improvement projects.

    + Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to education, staff competencies, and equipment safety.

    Requirements

    Current WA State RN license.

     

    BSN degree.

     

    5 years of critical care clinical experience.

    2 years of clinical leadership experience (educator, CNS, manager/assistant nurse manager, charge RN, preceptor, QI lead).

     

    Demonstrated ability to analyze practice issues and implement solutions/improvements.

     

    Demonstrated ability to develop, teach, and evaluate educational offerings.

     

    Demonstrated ability to work within inter-professional teams.

     

    Customer service focus.
