    * This is a stipended position and is only open to current, eligible, BPS employees whose current job status allows them to participate in this opportunity.*

     

    PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Exam School Initiative (ESI) is a racial equity initiative intended to expand access to Exam Schools for students who have been historically underrepresented as compared to the overall BPS student demographics. The Office of Opportunity Gaps took over the direction of the program in 2016 and made important changes to best serve the students who have been historically underrepresented in the three exam schools: Boston Latin Academy (BLA), the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science (O’Bryant), and Boston Latin School (BLS). The Office of Opportunity Gaps seeks a culturally responsive Tech Coordinator to support the successful implementation of the virtual programming.

     

    REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Targeted Programming, Office of Opportunity Gaps

    PROGRAM SCHEDULE:

    PROGRAM DATES & HOURS FOR TEACHERS: Following Saturdays with reporting times 8:30 AM –11:15 AM

     

    + Virtual learning dates: Sep 27, 2025 , Oct 4, 2025 , Oct 18, 2025 , October 25, 2025, Nov 1, 2025 , Nov 15, 2025 , Nov 22, 2025

    + Family Orientation: Sep 23, 2025 6:30 pm-7:30 pm

    + NO PROGRAM DATES OCTOBER 18 INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY WEEKEND OR NOVEMBER 8TH VETERANS DAY WEEKEND

     

    STUDENT DAILY SCHEDULE: 9:00 AM - 11:15 - Virtual

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Set up Zoom classrooms and administrative rooms

    + Troubleshoot other instructional platforms as needed

    + Coordinate the sending out of Zoom schedules and classroom information to families

    + Provide ESI teachers with login credentials and technical support

    + Provide Students & Families with credentials and support for programming

    + Coordinate Zoom login credentials for substitute teachers

    + Troubleshoot technical issues as needed

    + Provide teachers with support in taking attendance virtually as needed

    + Record accurate daily attendance and perform other tasks as requested

    + Contact families regarding absent students

    + Technical Competencies

    + Knowledge of Zoom platform, how to navigate, administer and troubleshoot is a must

    + Competency with mail merge for communications to families.

    + Experience using and troubleshooting Google Classroom and other instructional platforms.

    QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:

    + Bachelors Degree

    + Experience using and troubleshooting the Zoom platform

    + Experience using, troubleshooting Google Classroom platform and other instructional platforms.

    + Experience in Aspen and knowledge of attendance-taking procedures and analysis

    + Mail merge experience with communications

    + The ability to effectively communicate with historically marginalized students and families

    + Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization on their first day of employment

    QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:

    + BPS values linguistic diversity and believes that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity. Candidates who are fluent in Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Somali, or Portuguese are strongly preferred

     

    TERMS STIPEND POSITION: Anticipated total of up to 40 hours of pre- and post virtual program time for an estimated program total of $1,800.00. Stipends will be paid out at the end of the program.
