    Quality Manager - West Plant - Decatur, IL

     

    This is a full-time, exempt level position.

    Position Summary:

    The Decatur West Plant is seeking a Quality Manager with the skills to drive operational improvements and ensure compliance with QFS regulations. As a member of the West Plant leadership team, this position will report directly to the Plant Manager and provide guidance and leadership to the West Complex, including the Crush, Lecithin and Refinery departments.

    Job Responsibilities:

    + Provides leadership, support, and guidance to ensure that Quality and Food Safety requirements are met.

    + Manages a team of QFS professionals.

    + Partners with the Refinery Manager on with specialty oil blends, formulation and general oilseeds refinery support.

    + The ability to provide motivation to direct reports, and demonstrate leadership qualities to all plant personnel is needed.

    + Manages, plans, implements, and continuously improves the Food Safety/Quality divisional programs.

    + Escalates and communicates quality and food safety issues, as required, to Plant Management, Regional QFS, BU NA QFS Director and the Technology Center.

    + Develops and delivers engaging and effective training, measures effectiveness of training and makes updates for continuous improvement.

    + Tracks and reports the Cost of Poor Quality to drive continuous improvement in the plant.

    + Oversee usage of and provide support for information technology systems (i.e., Policy Tech, APeCS, GEMINI, etc.)

    + Coordinates mock recalls and QFS inspections of the facility in accordance with applicable regulations.

    + Ensure the processes and systems are adequate to implement, achieve, and maintain 3rd party certifications (i.e., GMP+, SQF, etc.) and FDA compliance (21 CFR 507 and/or 21 CFR 117).

    + Coordinates RCAs on quality concerns and customer complaints to drive high level countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence.

    + Provide support to department leadership on quality issues that are impacting the operation.

    + Works directly with commercial teams and Oils Tech Services on customer complaints.

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study such as Engineering, Chemistry or Food Science plus five (5) or more years of experience in a Quality and Food Safety role in a food manufacturing facility, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Extensive background in Oilseeds Processing and Quality and Food Safety in a food manufacturing facility.

    + Strong problem solving, diagnostic and analytical skills, with a results focused approach.

    + Effective leadership, change management and project/program management skills

    + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, acts as a reliable pro-active communicator.

    + A continuous improvement mindset, a drive for success, and a consistently positive attitude and outlook

    + Must be willing and able to maintain a high degree of availability to a 24/7 operation.

    Physical Demands:

    + The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, lift 50 pounds, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed.

    + This role is in an industrial manufacturing facility, which can include exposure to loud noise, chemical hazards, performing work inside/outside in various weather conditions and in dusty/dirty environments.

    + Employees working at the Decatur West Plant are [or may be] exposed to various potential chemical and food allergens due to the nature of our business and the requirements of the job.

    + Prompt and consistent attendance is required.

    Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

     

    If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

    The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

    $92,800.00 - $174,800.00

    Salaried Incentive Plan:

    The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus and a long-term incentive plan
