    Job Summary** **:

    Responsible for assessing patient financial responsibility through price estimation, providing benefit education for all insured and uninsured patients, and assists patients in securing financial assistance. Accepts patient payments, is a back-up to the financial counselor/cashier, and reconciles accounts that are in an unbilled status.

    Minimum Qualifications** **:

    **Education:** High school diploma or GED.

    **Experience:** At least 1 year of patient access experience preferred.

    **Licensure/Certification:** N/A

    **Primary Source Verification (if applicable):** N/A

    **Knowledge/Skills:** Hospital billing and/or registration knowledge. Insurance verification, eligibility, and/or accounts receivable experience. Pre-certification, authorization, and medical terminology.

    **Other:** Potential hazards include depth perception and use of latex gloves.

    Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 0-100 lbs.; pushing/pulling 0-100 lbs.; stooping, kneeling, balance, bending, sitting, walking and standing. Manual dexterity (eye/hand coordination), hear alarms/telephone/tape recorder, reach above shoulder, repetitive arm/hand movements, finger dexterity, color vision, acuity far and near.

     

    Working Conditions include periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. May be exposed to high noise levels and bright lights. May be exposed to physical altercations and verbal abuse. May be exposed to limited hazardous substances or body fluids.* May have periods of constant interruptions.
