    + DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

    + The Endoscopy Staff gastrointestinal (GI) technician assists a physician in endoscopic procedures, such as esophagogastroduodenoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, colonoscopy, percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy, bronchoscopies, etc. Under general supervision and according to established procedures, prepares the GI area and patients for procedures. In conjunction with the RN, coordinates the necessary procedures for efficient turn around of procedure rooms. Serves as technical support to physicians and nurses in assigned procedure rooms. Ensures equipment is cleaned following established aseptic techniques and stocks routine supplies.

    + QUALIFICATIONS

    + Professional/Educational

    + High School Diploma

    + At least 18 years of age

    + Previous experience in endoscopic GI/respiratory procedures, operating room or related area preferred

    + Knowledge of principles of asepsis.

    + Certified by the American Heart Association in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

    + DCFS Mandated Reporter Certificate of Completion required.

    + Computer knowledge required.

    + Evidence of knowledge and ability to use proper channels of communication.

    + Willingness to participate in call schedule and work irregular hours as necessary.

    + Realizes that errors or incompetency may cause serious complications for patients and appreciates the importance of setting a good example for others.

     

    Actual pay will be determined by qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
