Job Description
The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. The Literacy and Immigrant Services unit is seeking [1] Apprentice who will work under the supervision of the two Deputy Directors of Literacy & Immigrant Services. They will work with the unit's contracted nonprofit service providers and program managers in the following ways:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Validating outcomes achieved by the nonprofit providers funded by DYCD.
- Assist unit staff with conducting Desk Review, Mid-Year, and Closeout EMTs
- Assist unit staff with telephone and e-mail follow-up with providers for administration and program operations, as required by the RFP.
- Assisting Program Managers on off-site visits to providers.
- Assist unit staff with blast emails to CBOs- universal BCC emails
- Assist in reviewing slot types for accuracy.
- Assist with referrals to DYCD’s Budget Helpdesk. Direct providers to the Helpdesk e-mail.
- Assist with MWBE Utilization submissions in DYCD Financial. Review, reject, and approve submissions from providers.
- Assist with DYCD Connect inquiries. Respond to requests received via e-mail or telephone.
- Assist with follow-up e-mails when SAPs and CAPs are due.
- Assist with PASSPort submissions and rejections. Review documents with program managers for final review.
- Review case management compliance for unit staff to evaluate and provide technical assistance when needed.
- Quarterly follow-up with providers to obtain success stories.
- Additionally, Youth Apprentices will have opportunities to assist the unit with special projects, as directed by the Deputy Directors of Literacy & Immigrant Services, Senior Literacy & Immigrant Services, and the Assistant Commissioner.
