    Job Description

    The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order.     Support Service Bureau- Fiscal section oversees, directs, manages, and coordinates the other than Personal Services (OTPS) Tax Levy, Forfeiture, Grants, Capital and Revenue Budgets for the Support Services Bureau, and its Divisions. The Fiscal section provides accounting and Budgeting guidance while supervising the activities of the Fiscal coordinators; maintain financial and budgetary data; reconciles Adopt Budgets; review and prepares recommendations for Budget modifications ensuring accuracy and the proper utilization of the object codes are within the guidelines of the Comptroller's Charts of Accounts; audit monthly Confidential Certification Reports Approves spending plans, verified year end expenses, and reviews and endorse expense accruals; reviews Comptroller's Directives for compliance with Accounting and internal control mandates; monitors the utilization of all object codes to guarantee funds are effectively utilized; evaluates quarterly budget reviews; guides the use of the FMS/3 accounting system and review the submission of Miscellaneous Revenue Updates.

     

    Under direct supervision, with some latitude for independent work, this position will perform procurement and clerical duties. Tasks responsible for but not limited to process fiscal related communications, assists procurement processes, secures price quotes, prepare purchase requisitions, submits requests for approval in DCMB portal, prepare receiving report for payment, perform data entry tasks, create budget data charts, respond to e-mail, answers telephone, and set up daily roll call.

    Qualifications

    For Assignment Level I:

    Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.

    For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):

    Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.

    For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):

    Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

    SPECIAL NOTE

    Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.
