As an Advanced Endoscopy Technician, you will assist the physician with all endoscopic procedures, in addition to routine colonoscopies, esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGD) and flexible sigmoidoscopies, such as: ERCP, cholangioscopy, electrohydrolithotripsy, mechanical lithotripsy, stent placement, complex stricture dilation, EUS, EMR, ESD, POEM, POP/G-POEM, STER, Zenker's diverticulotomy, Z-POEM, RFA for Barrett's, cryoablation, achalasia balloon dilation, EUS guided fiducial placement, celiac plexus neurolysis and cystgastrostomy.

A caregiver in this position works 6:30AM - 5:00PM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

+ Assist physicians with all endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopies, esophagogastroduodenoscopies (EGD), ERCP, flexible sigmoidoscopies, and EUS.

+ Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of all endoscopes and completion of all documentation logs and records.

+ Assist the RN with patient care, including admission of patients, setting up rooms, transporting patients, patient recovery and final cleaning of rooms.

+ Assist nurses and physicians in all aspects of GI procedures. This includes assisting with stocking rooms with equipment and supplies and maintaining proper procedures for cleaning and storing endoscopes.

+ Change chemical sterilants and clean scope washers.

+ Assess endoscopes daily, report any damage to the director and prepare and send out scopes for repair.

+ Transport specimens.

+ Make pre-op calls to patient to obtain preliminary information

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ High school diploma or GED

+ Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

+ One year of experience in a hospital setting

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

+ Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMT)
