    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The Radiation Services Coordinator, under minimal supervision, assists the Radiation Oncologist, Department Director, Radiation Treatment Team to coordinate departmental activities to provide for quality patient care. The Coordinator handles all scheduling associated with pre and post treatment patient needs, procedure charging coordination and patient case management issues. The Coordinator assists Physician and Nurse in Triaging patients upon initial consults, during the treatment regimen and follow-up appointments. This position coordinates the compilation of all patient medical records and other information needed for quality patient treatment. The Coordinator also coordinates business support to the Radiation Oncology Department. The Patient Care Coordinator intakes and send out new patients and referrals. The coordinator also ensure the department is stocked with office supplies.

    What you will do in this role:

    + Serves as main source of initial contact for patients and caregivers; assist physician and nurse with all medical support activities needed for quality care.

    + Initiates and maintains the MOSAIQ EMR procedure scheduling system for the physician and the nurse; manage physician’s schedule

    + Triage patients during initial consults, treatment regimen and follow-up appointments;

    + Schedule appointments to referring doctors/labs/imaging/diagnostic tests; Obtains insurance authorizations and insurance verifications

    + Coordinates patient Case Management needs with referring physicians, the American Cancer Society, Home Health Care and Hospice organizations

    + Handles/organizes all daily charging for Radiation Oncologist in conjunction with HCA Physician Services

    + Maintains and orders office supplies

    + Maintains/disinfects optic direct laryngoscope according to JCAHO protocol

    + Maintains/organizes all medical records for Department of Radiation Oncology

    + Assists the physician and nurse by coordination Weekly Chart rounds and periodic Chart audits.

    + Processes all physician orders

    + Coordinates the compilation of dictation for Radiation Oncologist

    + Understands and satisfies the needs of the patient population appropriate to the age and status of the patient served (adults, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric)

    What qualifications you will need:

    + High school diploma or GED required

    + Graduate of Vocational/Technical school

    + Certified Medical Assistant Preferred

    + 1-3 years of experience required - Other: experience working in a healthcare setting and directly with a physician. experience with medical records, insurance, and dictation preferred.
