Reporting to the Executive Director of Development,the Development Manager, Institutional Giving supports the securing and managing of philanthropic contributions from foundations and corporations designed to advance the mission and strategic priorities of CUNY SPS. This role will perform identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a portfolio of new institutional funders in collaboration with the ED of Development and assist on a project-by-project basis with key stakeholders at the School.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, relationship-driven fundraiser with exceptional writing skills, strong project management capabilities, and a track record of meeting or exceeding institutional giving goals.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, and under the guidance of the ED of Development, duties and responsibilities include:
+ Builds and manages a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects aligned to CUNY SPS priorities.
+ Researches and qualifies new institutional funding opportunities and matches them to university needs.
+ Under ED of Development’s guidance develops and executes tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans for each prospect.
+ Writes and conducts on-time submissions of compelling letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and budgets.
+ Communicates with internal stakeholders to gather necessary financial information and data to complete and submit reporting.
+ Manages reporting: prepares and presents for review and timely submission, accurate narrative and financial reports; communicates progress and challenges to funders as directed.
+ Maintains complete, up-to-date pipelines, actions, institutional giving activity for ODAR, and deadlines in Raiser’s Edge.
+ Tracks trends in institutional philanthropy, recommends strategies for leveraging them.
Note:
+ Until further notice, work will be performed in a hybrid manner with 70% onsite presence.
+ Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Advanced degree or relevant professional fund-raising certification preferred.
+ Experience in a higher education advancement setting.
+ Strong knowledge of the institutional funder landscape.
+ Minimum of 6 years of successful fundraising experience with a focus on institutional giving.
+ Proven track record of securing five- figure and larger institutional grants.
+ Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex ideas into compelling narratives.
+ Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage effectively with foundation officers, corporate representatives and internal stakeholders.
+ Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
+ Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising CRM systems.
+ High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality.

- Fulfills specific goals and targets based on individual portfolio
- Assists Director with developing funding strategies and assessing outcomes

- Maintains relationships with donors and sponsoring organizations to cultivate and maintain funding
- Prepares financial reports for management; may write grant proposals
- May manage professional and/or clerical staff

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary commensurate with education and experience, between $74,249 - $102,408.
