Job Title: Chief Operating Officer Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Operating Officer to translate strategic objectives into actionable operational services. This role involves overseeing client projects, ensuring quality and compliance, and driving operational efficiencies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in business management, clinical research, and regulatory affairs, with a commitment to enhancing service delivery through innovation and collaboration.
Responsibilities
+ Translate strategic objectives into actionable operational CRQE services.
+ Oversee and execute client projects ensuring adherence to bids, protocols, timelines, and budgets.
+ Design, implement, and continuously improve operational processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
+ Manage budgets, resources, and staffing levels to support operational goals and strategic initiatives.
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and internal teams.
+ Act as a strategic partner and integrated extension of client teams, working collaboratively to meet project goals and uphold client values.
+ Ensure all client project operations adhere to relevant regulations and standards, including but not limited to Good Regulatory, Clinical, and Manufacturing Practices.
+ Communicate operational strategies, progress, and risks to staff, executives, and external cross-functional teams while fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
+ Streamline operations through continuous Quality Management System improvements.
+ Enhance CRQE processes and services, ensuring compliance and identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks.
+ Support teams in developing root cause analyses, CAPAs, and effectiveness checks.
+ Lead marketing and sales activities to drive business growth, including overseeing updates to digital platforms and attending trade shows.
+ Leverage technology to enhance operational efficiency, implement digital transformation initiatives, and improve service delivery.
+ Establish clear key performance indicators (KPIs), set performance expectations, and conduct performance reviews.
Essential Skills
+ Strong background in business management, clinical research, and regulatory affairs.
+ Minimum 15 years progressive experience in the life sciences industry.
+ Minimum 5 years in a senior operational or leadership role.
+ Advanced degree in a relevant field such as life sciences, engineering, medicine, business administration, or a related scientific discipline.
+ Deep understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, foods, supplements, and natural products.
+ Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation.
+ Ability to build and manage high-performing teams, recruit critical personnel, and implement talent retention strategies.
+ Familiarity with operational workflows, process improvements, and new system implementation processes.
+ Experience designing or delivering CRQE training and managing research infrastructure.
+ Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
+ Experience with venture capital, fundraising, and business development processes.
+ Demonstrated success in CRQE affairs within consulting or contract research organizations.
+ Strong leadership and team-building abilities to unify multidisciplinary teams and foster a collaborative culture.
+ Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to drive cultural change and continuous improvement.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Additional certifications in CRQE fields.
+ Strategic mindset with the ability to align scientific innovation with commercial objectives.
+ Entrepreneurial spirit, adaptable, and committed to upholding values and standards.
+ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Work Environment
This is a 100% remote role with a need to travel 5-10%. The position is fractional, requiring someone who can assist in building structures.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150.00 - $200.00/hr.
