Job Title: Shipping Manager
Job Description
Manage and coordinate activities of workers within the department, focusing on picking products and preparing them for same-day shipping both nationally and internationally via carrier services. This role involves determining work procedures, preparing work schedules, and expediting workflow.
Responsibilities
+ Issue written and oral instructions and assign duties.
+ Examine work exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
+ Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers.
+ Maintain and develop a strong team and resolve grievances.
+ Interview and hire new employees.
+ Identify employee skills and develop them by coaching employees on a regular basis.
+ Assist employees with work process problems.
+ Participate, with other managers, in weekly internal and external tours of the plant to observe operations and address internal and/or customer issues in a timely manner.
+ Forward requisitions for shipping materials to the President for approval.
+ Maintain all work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed federal, state, and local safety regulations to meet all inspection requirements.
+ Daily notify carriers of all pick-ups for shipments -- full truckloads, LTL, intermodal, and customer pick-up carriers.
+ Assist purchasing agent by arranging transportation for raw material pick-ups daily.
+ Compile all shipping orders from the previous day with correct weights and final shipping information and transmit to the accounting department on a daily basis.
+ Participate in daily shipping meetings to ensure proper shipping dates and requirements for customers.
+ Familiarity with packing slips, accurate computer data entry of information such as amounts and weights, preparation of bills of lading, creating labels including shipping labels for UPS software.
+ Create a daily shipping schedule for shipping, production, and lab to ensure accuracy of details and procedures on customers' behalf.
+ Formulate weight estimates and use that information to negotiate rates with all trucking companies, negotiating best prices for expedited shipping when necessary.
+ Create all necessary customs documents for international shipping to Canada, South America, and Mexico.
+ Troubleshoot last-minute customer order issues daily.
+ Serve as back-up for Bulk Coordinator when needed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
Full benefits package, health vision dental, 401k 2 weeks vacation
