    Overview

     

    We’re hiring a Mechanical Engineer IV to join a leading firm in the Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical industry, known for delivering cutting-edge solutions across complex, high-impact projects. This is a senior -level opportunity for a technical leader or project manager to take ownership of mechanical and HVAC design for advanced facilities. Based in Cary, NC, this role offers the chance to work on innovative projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

    What You’ll Do

    + Lead the mechanical discipline scope of work across all phases of diverse and technically complex projects.

    + Manage discipline budgets and ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.

    + Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, clients, construction managers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturers.

    + Oversee or execute tasks such as site selection, master planning, commissioning/startup, load calculations, utility assessments, energy modeling, and design documentation.

    + Direct design efforts from conceptual and schematic stages through construction documentation and administration.

    + Conduct field surveys, resolve non-compliant conditions, and develop specifications for sophisticated mechanical systems.

    + Provide expert-level support during construction, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and progress reporting.

    + Perform quality checks and technical reviews of design calculations and documentation.

    + Mentor junior engineers and designers, fostering technical growth and excellence.

    + Lead advanced system design programming and master planning initiatives.

    What You Bring

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

    + At least 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in HVAC and utility systems.

    + Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing.

    + Deep knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and building codes.

    + Proven experience in engineering calculations and system design.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Industry experience in Life Sciences, Biotech, Laboratory, or Food & Beverage sectors.

    + Familiarity with GMP manufacturing environments and regulatory standards.

    + Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office tools.

    + Sustainable design experience or certifications (LEED, WELL, etc.).

    + Knowledge of standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, ISPE, FDA, and OSHA.

    + Experience with Revit plugins (Enscape, Unifi) and parametric design tools (Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino).

    + Strong cross-discipline coordination and construction collaboration skills.

    + Ability to create training materials and travel for client engagement and project execution.

    Work Environment

    This position is based in Cary, NC, within a collaborative and technology-driven setting. Occasional travel may be required for client development, project execution, and training opportunities.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $175000.00/yr.
