Job Title: Quality Engineer Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Quality Engineer to develop and maintain quality systems according to industry standards, and provide assistance to customers with any quality-related issues. This role involves both statistical support for product and process development and hands-on involvement in setting up SPC parameters and instructing dimensional inspectors.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and maintain quality systems for assigned projects.
+ Provide statistical support including Design of Experiments (DOE) for product and process.
+ Set up Statistical Process Control (SPC) parameters for Quality Assurance Systems (QAS) and instruct inspectors on techniques.
+ Lead or participate in the implementation and discipline of SPC.
+ Develop process flow and control plans and assist in process-related quality instruction sheets.
+ Participate in Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) teams as needed.
+ Engage in 8D and Continuous Improvement teams, offering problem-solving consultations as needed.
+ Prepare Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages for customer submission.
+ Resolve customer issues for assigned projects.
+ Coordinate gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R & R) studies for new programs.
+ Provide leadership and guidance to quality personnel in using quality methods.
+ Coordinate and perform capability studies.
+ Develop and complete customer sample submission packages.
+ Act as the direct contact for all assigned customer base.
+ Work with customers to resolve product quality issues.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
+ Report any unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
+ Continue required training.
+ Understand and meet customer-specific requirements.
+ Maintain and operate a safe, efficient, and quality-conscious operation.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in quality engineering with a minimum of 3 years in the automotive industry.
+ Hands-on experience with quality tools such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and 8D problem-solving.
+ Strong knowledge of IATF and automotive quality management systems.
+ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with team members and suppliers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Engineering degree is required.
+ Experience with OEMs, Tier 1, and Tier 2 automotive suppliers.
+ Proficiency in MS Office.
+ Familiarity with GM or Ford proprietary software is a plus.
Work Environment
The position involves working both in an office setting and on the production floor. On the production floor, the Quality Engineer will guide hourly operators through work instructions to ensure proper execution of tasks.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Riverside, Missouri.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr.
