Job Title: Instrument Operator
Job Description
The Survey Instrument Person supports land surveying operations by operating and maintaining field equipment, assisting with stakeout and location surveys, and collecting accurate data. This role includes setting up and using Total Stations, GPS, and Data Collectors, maintaining field supplies, and ensuring proper documentation and data transfer. The Instrument Operator may lead the survey crew in the absence of the Party Chief and is expected to follow safety and operational protocols at all times.
Responsibilities

+ Follow safety protocols.
+ Assist in downloading and managing survey data.
+ Set up and use Total Stations, GPS, and Data Collectors.
+ Maintain field supplies and ensure proper documentation and data transfer.
+ Lead the survey crew in the absence of the Party Chief.
Essential Skills
+ Ability to operate and maintain survey instruments.
+ Perform stakeout and location surveys.
+ Follow safety protocols.
+ Assist in downloading and managing survey data.
+ Knowledge of survey principles, equipment, and safety procedures.
+ Ability to interpret legal descriptions, maps, and engineering plans.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Two years of experience as a Rod Person.
+ Ability to lead in absence of Party Chief.
+ Familiarity with survey software and legal descriptions.
+ Topographic surveys, Land surveying.
+ Familiarity with PMI policies and procedures.
+ High school diploma or GED required.
+ Must be 18 years of age.
+ Valid driver’s license required.
+ Ability to obtain DBIDS or Rapid Gate Pass
+ Willingness to undergo drug testing per company policy.
Work Environment
Outdoor fieldwork in varying weather and terrain conditions. Exposure to construction sites, wildlife, and plant materials. Frequent lifting of 25 lbs and regular lifting up to 50 lbs. Travel up to 20% outside the area, including overnight and weekend stays. Reports to Field Coordinator. Non-exempt, hourly position. Steel toe boots required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $49920.00/yr.
