    Job Title: General Operator

    Job Description

    The General Operator plays a crucial role in supporting various seasonal activities, including seed crop inspection and maintenance, seed inventory management, and harvesting. The work varies with the seasons, ranging from seed packaging in fall to warehouse operations in winter.

    Responsibilities

    + Receive and process trucks hauling crop from the field for weighing and unloading during September-October.

    + Complete a wide range of harvest activities, including combine cleaning.

    + Supply the Conditioning department with a constant supply of seed and apply appropriate treatment to seed.

    + Label, tag, bag, and palletize seed between November and March.

    + Enter inventory information into the computer and stage seed for shipment in the warehouse.

    + Retag in-house seed and re-bag backhaul returned seed between April and August.

    + Inspect pro boxes to ensure they are free of debris and clean, and wash pro boxes as necessary.

    Essential Skills

    + Knowledge of production agriculture and production plant operations.

    + Ability to safely perform duties in a timely fashion while maintaining seed quality.

    + Capability to work independently or with a team.

    + Flexibility to adjust to changing conditions and anticipate needs.

    + Competence in making independent decisions.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Forklift experience is preferred.

    + General production and material handling skills.

    + Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings.

    + Reliable transportation to the site and punctuality.

    + Enthusiasm, good attitude, honesty, and respect for all.

    + Ability to work long hours and rotational shifts, including overtime as needed.

    + Effective verbal and written communication skills.

    + Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 60 pounds, work indoors and outdoors, and walk on uneven surfaces.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment involves both indoor and outdoor activities, requiring substantial walking. The schedule requires flexibility, with the potential for rotating work shifts every four weeks. Day and night shifts vary in hours and days throughout the year, with additional pay for night shifts.

    This is a Contract position based out of New Madrid, Missouri.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.
