    Job Title: Continuous Improvement Engineer Job Description

     

    Analyze current manufacturing processes, especially within injection molding, to identify areas for improvement in cycle time, quality, and cost. Lead and implement Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and other initiatives to drive continuous improvement across the plant. Apply Black Belt-level Six Sigma methodologies to complex problems and mentor others in structured problem-solving.

    Responsibilities

    + Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues related to molding machines, robotics, and auxiliary equipment.

    + Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to develop preventive maintenance strategies and equipment upgrades.

    + Manage improvement projects from concept to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

    + Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring production issues.

    + Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and training materials.

    + Support new product launches and equipment installations, ensuring smooth integration into existing operations.

    + Provide technical support during validations, process qualifications, and equipment commissioning.

    + Train and mentor technicians and operators on new processes and technologies.

    Essential Skills

    + Continuous improvement

    + Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification

    + 5S experience

    + 3–7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in plastic injection molding

    + Strong hands-on experience with troubleshooting electrical systems (PLCs, HMIs, sensors) and mechanical systems (hydraulics, pneumatics, tooling)

    + Proven track record of managing engineering or process improvement projects

    + Familiarity with injection molding machines

    + Excellent communication and team collaboration skills

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; Electrical or Industrial Engineering also considered

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clyde, Ohio.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $58.00/hr.
