Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
Provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program. Implement new production equipment, operator work stations, and facilities based on product and process changes at manufacturing assembly build events on site.
Responsibilities
+ Compile and distribute daily metrics files in standard night letter format and Excel list format.
+ Identify and resolve manufacturing-related issues.
+ Interface with cross-functional activities/teams such as Product Development, Plant Engineering, and Suppliers.
+ Write, modify, and maintain process sheets as required.
+ Lead assembly tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site, including tooling buy-off at the tooling vendor facility.
+ Lead pre-build validation events for the prototype build at the pilot plant.
+ Assist in preparing management reviews and data collection to support presentations.
+ Drive quality, cost, and labor improvements during the launch process.
+ Accelerate plant throughput during launch by identifying and resolving constraints, including documenting daily acceleration throughput reports.
+ Install error proofing as required.
+ Assist in the completion of preventive maintenance planning for all new tooling for the launch.
+ Complete spare parts documentation and ensure industrial material documentation is completed.
+ Ensure all new tooling and processes meet internal ergonomic guidelines.
Essential Skills
+ Process improvement and continuous improvement.
+ Manufacturing engineering with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
+ Experience working within an automotive assembly plant, including internships and co-ops.
+ Leadership experience in a professional or academic setting.
+ Launch support, final assembly, tooling, installation, process development, body engineering, body construction, process engineering, and manufacturing process.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ CAD experience is required.
+ Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints.
+ Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
+ Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting) is preferred.
+ Experience in fluid fill, decking, error proofing, end of line, buy off, body construction, sub assembly, and welding is a nice to have but not required.
Work Environment
Work will be based primarily at the Dearborn Truck Plant, with occasional work from home if on-site presence is not required. Expect to spend 90% of the time at the Dearborn Truck Plant and/or the Dearborn Electric Center. This role averages 50 hours per week, with some weeks ranging from 40-45 hours and others potentially up to 60-65 hours during critical phases of the launch cycle. During build events, 12-hour shifts, night shift support, and weekend support on alternating weekends may be required. During install and commissioning, similar shifts and support may be required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
