Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and mechanically inclined individual to join our team as a Pump Mechanic Trainee. In this role, you will start as a shop helper and gradually advance to become a 1st class API Pump mechanic. You will be involved in servicing and repairing pumps and rotating equipment, gaining valuable experience in the field.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in cleaning the shop, including sweeping and mopping.
+ Utilize measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, and OD & ID micrometers.
+ Support mechanics with overhauls and repairs.
+ Assist machinists in fabricating parts.
Essential Skills
+ Possess at least 2+ years of mechanical aptitude.
+ Have a minimum of three years of experience with pumps.
+ Proficient in using measuring tools, including measuring tape and OD & ID micrometers.
+ Familiarity with blueprint and schematic work.
+ Aspire to become a 1st class API Pump mechanic.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in mechanical assembly, repair, and troubleshooting.
+ Hands-on experience with hand tools and general labor tasks.
+ Interest in building a long-term career with the company.

Work Environment
The work is conducted in a medium-sized, air-conditioned shop that is currently tight on space but will be moving to a larger facility in the near future.
The night shift operates from **Monday to Friday, 3:30 PM to 2:30 AM, and Saturday from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM**
Two paid breaks and one unpaid lunch. **Employees work 50 to 60 hours weekly,** with occasional Sundays paid at double time.
The dress code includes steel-toed boots, jeans, a work shirt, and safety glasses.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of southeast Houston, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
