Description

We are looking for a skilled Controller to join our client's team on a contract basis in Salem, Oregon. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial processes, with a focus on journal entries, reconciliations, and grant accounting. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail and a background in nonprofit accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

• Examine account reconciliations prepared by the senior accountant, identifying and resolving discrepancies.

• Oversee grant accounting processes, ensuring proper allocation and compliance with funding guidelines.

• Manage month-end close procedures, including the preparation of necessary financial reports.

• Monitor and maintain balance sheet accounts, ensuring they are reconciled and up-to-date.

• Collaborate with internal teams to address financial discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

• Provide support and guidance to accounting staff as needed to enhance team performance.

• Ensure adherence to nonprofit accounting standards and best practices.

• Assist in preparing for audits by organizing financial documents and addressing auditor inquiries.

Requirements • Proven experience in reviewing journal entries and identifying accounting errors.

• Strong background in balance sheet account reconciliation and financial accuracy.

• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting, including grant management and compliance.

• Proficiency in month-end close processes and financial reporting.

• Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and problem-solving.

• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

• Knowledge of healthcare accounting is a plus but not required.

• Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
