    Description

    We are looking for an experienced Sr. Cost Accountant to join our team in Harford County, Maryland. This is a contract-to-permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong background in manufacturing cost accounting. The role involves overseeing critical financial processes, managing a small team, and contributing to the company’s commercial operations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Manage monthly financial reporting activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.

    • Oversee month-end close processes, including reconciling accounts and preparing necessary documentation.

    • Handle inventory accounting, focusing exclusively on the commercial side of the business.

    • Administer onsite tax-related responsibilities and ensure timely reporting.

    • Supervise and provide guidance to a small team, including one Accounts Payable Specialist and one Staff Accountant.

    • Collaborate with ownership to provide financial insights and support organizational goals.

    • Utilize QuickBooks Enterprise software to maintain and analyze financial records.

    • Monitor and analyze cost trends to support operational efficiency and profitability.

     

    Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.

     

    • Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise software for financial management.

    • Strong knowledge of month-end close processes and inventory accounting.

    • Ability to handle tax-related tasks and ensure compliance with regulations.

    • Proven experience managing or supervising small teams.

    • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

    • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, particularly with ownership and external stakeholders.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
