Facility:Dayton Children's - Main CampusDepartment:Building ServicesSchedule:Full timeHours:40Job Details:Reporting to the Corporate Director of Facilities, the position of Director of Building Services and Safety Officer is responsible for leadership and direction of the Building Maintenance and Repair group and Environment of Care. This role ensures the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of hospital facilities, equipment, and utilities, while maintaining regulatory compliance, accreditation, and survey readiness across all hospital, ambulatory/surgery, and business sites related to Environment of Care, Life Safety, and applicable national, state and local codes.
This position ensures adequate staffing, assistance with preparation and adherence to the department budgets, supervision, training, hiring and disciplinary action of staff. The position directly supervises 1 building services manager, 3 maintenance supervisors, 1 life safety coordinator, and 20+ building services technicians and various contracted vendors.
Administers and maintains all Environment of Care programs in accordance with standards and regulations established by TJC/CMS, state, local, and federal agencies as it relates to the health and safety of patients, visitors, staff and utility management to ensure compliance. The position is responsible for the development and implementation of the environment of care, life safety, and departmental policies and procedures including orientation and other safety training.
The director of building services will provide leadership support, direction, administrative guidance in the development, improvement and maintenance of the department and services by leading a culture of engagement that results in outstanding patient, visitor and staff satisfaction and services, adherence to best practices, operation efficiency, and continuous process improvement.
Required Qualifications
Department Specific Job Details:
Education:Associate degree required; preferably in Building Maintenance Technology, Facilities Management, HVAC, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Experience 3- 5 years of experience in facilities management or building maintenance.
Preferred QualificationsEducation:Bachelor degree; preferably in Building Maintenance Technology, Facilities Management, HVAC, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Experience:5+ years of experience in facilities management or building maintenance.Experience in healthcare facilities managementKnowledge of general trades, mechanical repair and maintenanceKnowledge of TJC/CMS Environment of Care / Life Safety standards
Certifications:Specialized training or certification, such as a P.E. license, in mechanical or electrical engineeringProfessional knowledge of NFPA 101 & 99 and OSHA desired.
Skills and CompetenciesKnowledge and ability to use various computer programs and applications.Effective communication and time management skills.Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of stakeholders
