Summary:
Credit Underwriting Officers are responsible for analyzing and monitoring credit worthiness of assigned customers/accounts and recommending and/or approving credit within established guidelines, with an emphasis on large strategic Dealer and OEM relationships and other complex credits. Also, assist in development of underwriting team and serve as coach to analysts, while also providing support on implementation of strategic initiatives on behalf of Underwriting Manager and/or Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Underwrite high quality credit narratives in support of new and existing loans. Review and analyze various transactions. Includes review and analysis of applications, credit bureau reporting, business and personal financial statements, completion of borrower and global cash flow analysis, etc.
+ Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced analysts to complete strategic Dealer and OEM underwritings for HDF’s key program relationships.
+ Review and approve transactions within credit authority and make sound recommendations on those outside of credit authority, including preparing written loan recommendations and proposing alternative loan structure recommendations when necessary.
+ Spreading of business financial statements and tax returns using Moody's software to analyze multi-year trends and ratios from financial information and complete periodic risk ratings.
+ Research industry trends and risks; share material changes and forecasts with teams after reaching a consensus with the Underwriting Manager and Director
+ Ensure adherence to Credit Policy and procedures, work with other departments to improve understanding and compliance and work closely with internal and external assurance functions to understand and ensure regulatory and policy compliance including Customer Identification Procedures under BSA, as well as Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) requirements.
+ Perform collateral analysis including accounts receivable, inventory, real estate and investments.
+ Work with Portfolio Operations teams to monitor payment performance, delinquency, delinquency trends and repossession activity.
+ Conduct financial statement follow-up to borrowers and track and monitor the receipt by the Bank of this information.
+ Preparation and presentation of problem loan reporting and ongoing portfolio reviews.
+ Lead special projects as assigned by Underwriting Manager and Director, including screening credit opportunities to ensure they meet HDF standards and strategies.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Other:
+ Travel to manufacturer trade shows or dealer visits, due diligence trips, as needed (<5%).
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
+ 5+ years commercial underwriting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Prior credit approval authority
+ Ability to independently structure and underwrite most loan requests under critical time constraints. Strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to perform highly detailed and accurate work on multiple, concurrent tasks.
+ Working knowledge of participation and syndication structures including cross-communication across bank groups.
+ Experience with statistical models including auto-decision and payment performance modeling.
+ Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and compliance regulations for loans.
+ A high level of verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey credit worthiness and recommendations. as well as presentation skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to make sound business judgments while protecting the interests of the bank.
+ Experience coaching and developing others, informally or formally
+ Experience in lending to a wide variety of industries, loan types, and sizes of companies, including prior experience in floorplan or equipment finance.
+ Strong analytical ability and an understanding of the analysis of commercial financials.
+ Superior technical skills.

Compensation Range:
$77,000.00 - $154,000 Annual Salary
The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
