Position OverviewUnited Health Services is seeking a Speech and Language Pathologist to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders. In this role, you will conduct assessments, create individualized treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions that support patients in regaining or improving speech, language, and swallowing abilities. You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, therapists, and families to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
The candidate will hold a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, a current New York State license, and a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP). Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are essential. Position Responsibilities:
+ Comprehends, interprets, and follows medical prescriptions for Speech-Language Pathology. Applies the accepted principles, methods, and procedures of measurement, prediction, and evaluation tests to assess patient’s strengths and limitations providing clinical diagnoses, and assists patient to achieve objective short and long term goals. Demonstrates knowledge of side effects and complications of services provided.
+ Administers and interprets clinical speech-language pathology services for assigned patients. Adjusts treatments according to patient's response to speech-language pathology treatment protocol.
+ Maintains accurate records of each patient's treatment, progress, and/or regression according to the Service Delivery Standard using paper or electronic systems, as necessary. Maintains all necessary records required to meet the criteria established by reimbursement and regulatory agencies. Maintains confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
+ Establishes and maintains effective working relationship with patients, their families, and other staff personnel. Participates in patient care conferences with other professionals involved in the management of cases. Provides patient/family education, as needed.
+ Participates in planning decisions for patient's post-discharge placement. Makes appropriate referrals and follows up to ensure proper placement and programming of patient. Interfaces with vendor to provide needed durable medical equipment.
+ Provides direction to departmental support staff, departmental clerical staff (as duties relate to treatment), and to speech-language pathology students, Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), and volunteers.
+ Maintains necessary CEUs for licensure and/or specialty specific certifications and professional organizations.
+ Has knowledge of and participates in departmental and organizational initiatives for performance improvement (PI).
Job Requirements:Minimum Required:
+ Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology
+ Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) or Clinical Fellowship year candidate.
+ NYS license or eligibility to be licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist
+ CPR certification within first 3 months of employment.
Preferred:
+ Previous clinical experience
+ Experience with dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders
+ Certification Teacher of Speech and Language Disabilities.
