    Provo City is seeking an administrative and recreation professional to manage all the operations, programs, and staff of the Provo City Recreation Center including athletic, recreational, fitness, aquatic programs, and special events.     What is the compensation package?

     

    Pay Rate: (G36) $86,278 - $118,935 annualized (depending on experience)

    + Oversee and direct activities, programs, schedules, maintenance, concessions, and employees of the Provo City Recreation Center.

    + Identify program successes and deficiencies and make needed improvements.

    + Oversee facility operations including monitoring the condition of equipment and facilities and arranging for needed repairs or replacements.

    + Develop and manage assigned budget, including oversight of purchasing and expenditure processes to ensure a balanced budget.

    + Oversee customer service to ensure positive experiences for patrons.

    + Maintain cooperative relationships with schools, patrons, and community resources.

    + Ensure overall compliance with applicable ordinances and local, state, and federal regulations.

    + Supervise, plan, and coordinate work of assigned employees.

    + Make staffing decisions including hiring, firing, and reassignments.

    + Perform other related duties as required.

     

    What are the minimum requirements?

     

    Provo City will honor equivalent combinations of education, training, and/or experience [substituting each one year of post-secondary education/training for 6 months of experience].

     

    + Bachelors degree in Recreation Management, Physical Education, Public Administration, Business Management, or a related field.

    + Five years of professional experience in recreation program management or a closely related field.

    + A valid lawful driver license.

    + Must obtain NRPA Parks and Recreation Professional certification within one year of hire.

     

    What is the selection process?

     

    Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on Septemember 22, 2025. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.

     

    If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
