Located in Philadelphia, Penn GSE is dedicated to supporting preK-12 educational leadership locally, as well as nationally and globally. We are looking for a colleague to contribute to this work through innovative research that aids educational leaders to support learning and school climate, redress social inequalities, and improve the life-long outcomes that are fundamental to the public provision of education. The individual will also provide leadership in GSE’s efforts to interweave research and practice into its preK-12 educational leadership programs and centers.
In particular, Penn GSE seeks a scholar whose research contributes knowledge to the field while also informing school, district, and/or system leaders in areas such as organizing supports for equity and ongoing improvement; navigating political and societal demands on schools; strengthening instruction through professional learning and/or coaching; resource allocations; building and sustaining inclusive school environments; and educator recruitment, development, and retention. The ideal candidate will also have demonstrated success working with preK-12 educational leaders at the school, district, state, or federal levels through partnerships or collaborations aimed at improving outcomes for students, educators, and local communities. We welcome candidates representing different disciplinary perspectives and methodological approaches.
The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate and – commensurate with experience – an outstanding record of research, funding productivity, and teaching expertise focusing on preK-12 educational leadership, with attention to the ways in which educational leaders work to promote opportunity, equity, and excellence.
The search committee will begin reviewing applications on October 27, 2025, and will continue reviewing submissions until the position is filled.
Please submit a CV, cover letter, research statement, statement of teaching philosophy, the names of three references, and three writing samples or publications online through Interfolio.
Please contact the Office of Research and Faculty Affairs with questions at [email protected].
