Job Description
How will you make an impact?
The Manager, Technical Operations will lead a team of process engineers, validation engineers, and machine operators. This team is responsible for the daily maintenance and long-term development of automation control systems, including hardware, software, and systems architecture. The role assumes responsibility for two manufacturing shifts, with approximately 50% of the time focused on leadership and team management, and the remainder on system design, issue resolution, and project management.
What will you do:
+ Apply Good Manufacturing Principles (GMP) across all areas of responsibility.
+ Demonstrate and promote Thermo Fisher’s 4 I’s: Intensity, Integrity, Innovation, and Involvement.
+ Lead and develop a team of engineers and contractors supporting process equipment and software control applications.
+ Ensure manufacturing equipment is maintained in a state of readiness to meet production requirements.
+ Create and implement change controls, SOPs, and handle engineering deviations and quality system processes.
+ Ensure team training and compliance with cGMP and SOP requirements.
+ Maintain product quality standards and compliance with SQIPP (Safety, Quality, Identity, Potency, and Purity).
+ Lead technical and cost proposals for CAPEX and improvement projects, serving as Project Manager when required.
+ Lead all aspects of risk management and life-cycle reliability of hardware and software.
+ Develop and manager engineering budgets, track project financials, and review purchase requests.
+ Collaborate with site leadership to align on automation needs and initiatives.
+ Provide supervisory oversight for both exempt and non-exempt employees.
+ Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support business needs.
How will you get here?
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with equivalent experience. Prior technical management and supervisory experience required.
+ Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
+ Proficiency in automation systems, software programming languages, and DCS.
+ Experience in manufacturing operations and quality systems.
+ Profound understanding of engineering principles, financial practices, and business insight.
+ Lifting, standing, sitting, walking, and squatting and be able to complete each of these movements frequently and at length (where applicable)
+ Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
+ Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) certification required, including use of safety glasses, face masks, and respirators.
+ Work in temperature-controlled, cold, and frozen environments.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Knowledge of project management practices.
+ Familiarity with human resources practices.
