Section: Relief Industries/LSP Industries (Swing Shift)

+ The PE Supervisor position serves in a relief capacity supervising PE Industries located at the Louisiana State Penitentiary (LSP). Industries include but are not limited to the following: License Plate Production, Screen Printing & Signs, T-Shirt Production, Metal Product Manufacturing, Mattresses & Janitorial Supplies, Graphics & Printing, Canteen Distribution & Warehousing, Canteen Package Program & Freight Services.

+ This position offers an opportunity to gain a comprehensive view of the various industry operations PE offers at LSP and facilitates assistance to others furthering PE’s mission.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of work experience in any field.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience for a maximum of four years.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

+ The PE (Relief) Supervisor position requires supervising inmate workers and monitoring performance and quality of products produced, ensuring safety, resolving issues, and maintaining compliance with regulations.

+ Work for (support): Prison Enterprises is an ancillary “Enterprise Fund”, operating entirely on self-generated revenue with a staff of approximately 66, operating over 30 individual cost centers at 7 correctional facilities across this State, along with a Headquarters location in Baton Rouge. This position is vital in our ability to accurately and timely deliver PE’s finished goods and agricultural commodities statewide.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE

+ Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.

+ An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.

+ This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.

Compensation:

There is Premium Pay for this position.

A rate between $.50 and $1.00 an hour for each hour worked, based on years of service with Prison Enterprises in a qualifying position, in addition to regular pay. Also, Location Pay is at $.58 per hour.
