    Assistant State Attorney – St. Johns County Drug Unit

    Job Description

    The Office of Seventh Circuit State Attorney R.J. Larizza invites you to apply for a career as an Assistant State Attorney. Our office is responsible for the prosecution of all crimes committed in Volusia, Flagler, Putnam, and St. Johns Counties. We employ over 70 prosecutors and handle over 50,000 cases annually.

     

    We are seeking a Drug Unit Assistant State Attorney for our St. Augustine office who is a member in good standing with the Florida Bar. Our prosecutors are described as self-starters, possessing common sense, having a great sense of humor, and relating to the Victims of crime. Good judgment and discretion are essential characteristics of prosecutors.

     

    Discretion, abilities to handle high-level criminal prosecutions, and litigation skills are essential functions of this career.

     

    Salary and Benefits

     

    The Seventh Circuit State Attorney’s Office is proud to boast the highest average salary for a prosecutor in the State of Florida. Our salary for the Drug Unit ASA isanticipated to start at $100,000+ (with appropriate experience)a year plus State of Florida health insurance, and retirement (either a pension or investment plans).

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    + Managing a docket of serious drug prosecution cases.

    + Investigate, evaluate, and prepare cases for litigation.

    + Manage a high-volume caseload.

    + Work within our paperless case management system (all prosecutors are assigned a laptop on day one).

    + Dependable and routine in-office attendance.

    + Ability to focus and pay attention to detail.

    + Ability to read and comprehend.

    + Efficient typing skills.

    + Effective and efficient communication skills and ability to interact professionally with other employees, members of the public and stakeholders.

    + Perform quality work within deadlines.

    + Ability to operate a computer and other office machinery.

    + Ability to read and follow rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

    + Work effectively as a team contributor as well as independently.

    + Comply with all Public Records statutes and policies.

    + Travel as required.

    + Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

    + Ability to work more than 40 hours per week.

    + Appropriate criminal prosecution experience required
