    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the direct supervision of the Bureau Chief, this position is responsible conducting in-depth reviews and analysis for Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) off-line searches and providing to management. This position is also responsible for completing reports and documentation for all off-line searches related to alleged misuse, criminal investigative support and assisting the Office of General Counsel with timely responses to public records requests. This position assists the criminal justice community by providing guidance on requests for data collection methods. This position must meet and maintain NCIC/FCIC certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Specific duties include:

    + Monitoring email boxes and prioritizing requests in order to complete requests within defined timeframes;

    + Consulting with federal, state, and local agencies to process critical requests and ensures completion of request in a timely manner in order to support the agency’s mission and goals;

    + Analyzing request independently and efficiently utilizing reporting mechanisms to extract necessary data in order to prepare a report that meets the authorized requestor’s needs;

    + Assisting Compliance & Education staff with retrieving archived information to facilitate the audit process;

    + Consulting with the Office of General Counsel as necessary to complete difficult or unusual requests and c onsulting with Information Technology Services on system enhancements that may have an impact on the reporting functionality and participates in system testing as required;

    + Prepares manuals as required;

    + Preparing Transaction Archive Reports for alleged misuse, criminal investigations, and public records requests;

    + Consulting with local, state, and federal criminal justice agencies to ensure their needs are met;

    + Preparing written reports (including but not limited to all off-line searches and requests for information) , charts, letters, memoranda, procedural manuals, and other documentation in accordance with Department guidelines, using appropriate and logical formats, tone, grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation, in time frames established with supervisors; and

    + Preparing responses to requests for information, annual, or periodic reports within time frames established by the Program Director.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    + Ability to communicate effectively;

    + Knowledge of the criminal justice system;

    + Knowledge of the methods of data collection;

    + Ability to learn FCIC codes;

    + Ability to comprehend the Criminal Justice Information Services security policy;

    + Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data;

    + Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;

    + Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;

    + Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities; and

    + Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments.

    BASE SALARY:

    + $53,917.24

    NOTES:

    Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
