    Rotating - 12 Hour (United States of America)

     

    This is a Stanford Health Care job.

     

    A Brief Overview

     

    Responsible for responding to needs of patients, family members and staff, designated in consultation with the Director, Spiritual Care Services and functions as a member of the Spiritual Care Service staff. Provide spiritual care assessment, intervention and support for patients and their families.

    What you will do

    + Employees must abide by all Joint Commission requirements including, but not limited to, sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patients’ rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communicate and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals and licensure and health screenings.

    + Provides interfaith spiritual assessment and intervention which enables patients, family members, visitors, and staff to draw upon their own religious and spiritual resources.

    + Coordinates care with multi-disciplinary teams for designated patient units and groups.

    + Assists patients with completion of advance care planning documents when requested.

    + Performs special pastoral/spiritual services (baptisms, memorials, etc) requested of the Spiritual Care Service and as appropriate to his/her professional functioning.

    + Coordinates care with staff chaplains, Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students and volunteers.

    + Available to serve at least two relief shifts per month.

    + If assigned, provide no more than fifteen hours per week of spiritual care on a designated hospital unit.

    + If qualified and assigned, provide Sacraments to Roman Catholic patients when Roman Catholic staff chaplain is not available.

    + If qualified and assigned, provide support to the Office of Decedent Affairs by assisting with completion of medical portion of death certificate and communicating with area mortuaries and Santa Clara County Health Department.

    Education Qualifications

    + Four Units of Clinical Pastoral Education at a center accredited by ACPE.

    Experience Qualifications

    + Experience requirements met by Education.

    + Endorsement of good standing to serve as a chaplain by applicant’s religious tradition.

    + To provide Sacraments to Roman Catholic patients, must be granted permission to do so by the Bishop of the San Jose Roman Catholic Diocese.

    + To assist with completion of medical portion of death certificate, must be proficient in use of and have access to the Electronic Death Registration System.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    + Ability and stamina to minister to patients/residents/clients with varying physical and mental dysfunctions.

    + Ability to adjust communications to fit the needs and level of understanding of the receiver.

    + Ability to energize team members.

    + Ability to establish and maintain excellent client relationships, exhibit exemplary interpersonal skills and exercise sound judgment and professionalism in business and personnel matters.

    + Ability to provide leadership and influence others.

    + Ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment.

    + Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.

    + Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job.

    + These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification.

    Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $37.82 - $49.15 per hour

     

    The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
