    Job Description

    This position reviews and issues state threatened and endangered species permits, pursuant to Part 365, NREPA, with a focus on high-speed internet installation and other right-of way infrastructure. Responsibilities include developing permit conditions and working with permit applicants on project alterations to avoid or minimize negative impacts to endangered species. This role will also develop guidance and best practices on effective conservation measures for rare species related to right-of-way infrastructure projects. This position will work with internal staff to support the conservation of rare and common wildlife. This position will also work with other state and federal agencies connected to infrastructure projects to align and streamline permitting. Additionally, collaboration with industry to ensure conservation measures are practical and can be effectively applied.

    This position is funded through the federal 2025 Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Program under an agreement with the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity – Michigan High-Speed Internet Office. This is a limited term position with the possibility of extension.

    Education

    Possession of a bachelor's degree in a physical, biological, or natural resource science, resource management, resource planning, engineering, or a related field.

    Resource Analyst P11

    Vacation and Sick Leave:Eligible full-time employees receive between15 and 35 personal daysand 13 sick daysper year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

     

    Paid Parental Leave:Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leaveimmediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

     

    Paid Holidays:Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
