We are seeking a full-time Physical Therapist to join an amazing team of dedicated professionals at ourBrookside School in Cottekill.
This 12-month position follows the school calendar; 32.5 hours per week. Experience working with pre-school and/or school-age children with disabilities is a plus.
Under the direction of the Director of Brookside School, the Physical Therapist shall provide physical therapy evaluations and services, as described in NYS Education Law and as recommended in each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP). The Physical Therapist must complete all necessary documentation regarding progress and recommendations for initial, continued or additional services. The delivery of physical therapy services requires a written prescription by a physician.
Responsibilities include:
+ Perform evaluations and assessments of children using standardized and non-standardized tools to determine current levels of functioning and needs for children referred by Early Intervention or a Committee on Preschool Education and make recommendations for types of services if needed.
+ Provide direct and appropriate physical therapy for an assigned caseload of students at the IEP or IFSP recommended frequency.
+ Update the IEP at the mandated frequency using IEP Direct when available and providing both district mandated progress marks and narrative progress notes each quarter.
+ Collaborate and communicate with education staff and other related service providers to share information regarding students and to assure that students needs are being addressed and met.
+ Provide direct supervision of one or more Physical Therapy Assistants, as required by section 7906(6) of the Education Law, which shall include meeting with and observing the Physical Therapy Assistant on a regular basis to review the implementation of treatment plans and to foster professional development.
+ Provide annual progress summary for each student as needed for their annual review addressing current levels of functioning and continued eligibility and need for occupational therapy services.
+ Continue professional growth in all areas necessary to improve quality of service
SCHEDULE/HOURS: 32.5/Monday through Friday/8:30 am to 3:00 pm
STARTING SALARY: $ 65,764.45 to $ 72,340.90 per year
Minimum Requirements
+ NYS license in Physical Therapy.
+ Computer experience including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
+ Excellent communication skills to be able to articulate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
+ Establish and maintain professional and courteous working relationships with all internal staff and external stakeholders.
+ Experience with both preschool and school-age children with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
