Position Overview
The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Policy serves as a principal strategist and spokesperson for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on key regulatory and economic policy issues. The executive leads the development and execution of strategic initiatives that span financial regulation, capital markets, and emerging technologies and drives advocacy efforts, policy development, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.
The SVP plays a critical role in shaping national policy across multiple sectors, including the stability and competitiveness of U.S. capital markets, and represents the Chamber before Congress, federal agencies, and global stakeholders to advance policies that foster growth, innovation, and a stable business environment. The position requires deep expertise in regulatory frameworks, economic competitiveness, and legislative strategy.
Responsibilities:
+ Strategic Leadership : Define and implement the Chamber’s long-term policy vision and advocacy strategies in alignment with company-wide goals.
+ Executive Management : Lead and mentor senior policy and support teams, oversee budget and resource allocation, and ensure operational excellence.
+ Policy Advocacy : Engage with senior policymakers, regulators, and legislators to influence a broad range of policy areas and lead lobbying efforts and
coalition-building initiatives.
+ Enterprise Collaboration : Partner with Chamber divisions, including Government Affairs, Communications, Member Relations, and other policy centers to advance shared objectives.
+ Member Engagement : Cultivate strong relationships with member companies and manage working groups to develop consensus-driven policy positions and advocacy campaigns.
+ Thought Leadership : Oversee the development of research, comment letters, legislative correspondence, and public-facing materials and speak at high-level briefings and conferences.
+ External Representation : Serve as the Chamber’s lead representative on regulatory and policy issues in public forums, media engagements, and stakeholder coalitions.
Qualifications:
+ Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in public policy, legislative affairs, or regulatory strategy, with a strong track record of executive leadership.
+ Significant experience working on Capitol Hill, in the executive branch, or in a senior role at a federal agency.
+ Deep understanding of U.S. policymaking and regulatory systems and expertise in financial policy, regulatory affairs, or capital markets is a plus.
+ Proven success in high-level advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and team management.
+ Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and relationship-building skills across political, industry, and public sectors.
+ Ability to navigate complex political and regulatory environments with integrity, influence, and bipartisan credibility.
The salary range for this position is $254,000.00 to $318,000.00, with the possibility of additional compensation through a discretionary bonus. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
