    Job Summary

    We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and forward-thinking Sr. Production Planner to join our manufacturing team. This role will be the lead for the developing production planning team; is critical to ensuring smooth production flow, on-time delivery, and efficient use of materials and resources in a metal fabrication and assembly environment. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including production, supply chain, engineering, and sales-to ensure optimal workflow and delivery performance. The Senior Planner will act as a key liaison between operations, engineering, materials, and supply chain, ensuring alignment on priorities and execution.

     

    As part of a fast-growing organization, you will also play a key role in designing and implementing scalable scheduling processes, tools, and best practices that support long-term growth and operational excellence. Your ability to analyze complex data, anticipate constraints, and proactively adjust plans will be vital to maintaining efficiency and responsiveness in a rapidly evolving environment

    Qualifications

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

     

    Develop, update, and maintain production schedules for fabrication, machining, and assembly operations.Responsible for ensuring all shop floor paperwork for jobs is compiled, organized, & and brought to respective supervisors.Translate demand and forecasts into strategic & executable shop floor schedules.Collaborate with supply chain to ensure materials are available on time for production.Partner with supervisors, leads, and engineers to balance workloads and prioritize production.Review and release work orders, ensuring accuracy of routing, BOMs, and lead times.Monitor shop floor progress & schedule adherence; identify bottlenecks, material availability, & capacity constraints to proactively communicate risks to delivery commitments.Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize scheduling, reduce lead times, and improve on-time delivery performance.Develop/Maintain KPIs such as schedule adherence, on-time delivery, and lead time reduction.Lead daily/weekly scheduling reviews with production supervisors, engineers, and planners.Mentor and support production planners as the team grows.

     

    Required Skills and Experience

     

    Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain OR 8+ years in production planning in a complex fabrication/machining environment Strong understanding of metal fabrication and assembly processes (machining, welding, finishing, assembly).Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Epicor is a plus).Advanced knowledge of capacity planning, finite/infinite scheduling, and material planning.Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic production environment.Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel

     

    Additional Skills and Experience

     

    Experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.Prior background in metal fabrication/assembly, machining, and heavy equipment industries.Advanced Excel skills or experience with scheduling tools.
