    POSITION VACANCY

    POSITION:Health Office Clerk

    7.0 hours per day / 10 month

     

    (7-12 student calendar +10 days)

     

    7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch)

    REQUIREMENTS:Ability to perform a variety of clerical tasks and health office tasks and assist the School Nurse. Refer to attached job description.

    QUALIFICATIONS:Eligible for Monroe County Civil Service Office Clerk IV

    (Must hold current title or be on current list.)

     

    SALARY:Salary Range $16.00 - $18.89 per hour (IESA Schedule A)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Irondequoit High School Health Clerk

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

    Performs a wide variety of clerical and health related functions in the Irondequoit High School Health Office. Work requires a knowledge of school methods and procedures and requires judgement and initiative to effectively handle the wide variety of situations which arise daily.

    Job Duties:

    + Determine and handle students’ medical needs using approved first aid procedures.

    + Contact parents for transportation of ill and/or injured students.

    + Prepare and distribute first aid supplies to teachers.

    + Make and freeze adequate supply of ice packs.

    + Type correspondence, agendas, minutes, forms, reports and copy materials as needed.

    + Maintain up-to-date health records.

    + Confirm physical dates, immunizations, and medicine with doctors’ offices.

    + Inventory and requisition supplies and equipment.

    + Compile information for health office yearly statistics.

    + Maintain accurate daily record of pupil visits to health office for illness and/or injury.

    + Complete accident reports.

    + Schedule student physicals and screenings.

    + Administer vision, audiometer, and color perception screenings.

    + Report screening concerns to the R.N.

    + Administer medication according to IESA contract language.

    + Weigh and measure students

    + Complete health records and screenings of new students.

    + File emergency information on all students.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Working knowledge of basic arithmetic operations; working knowledge of the rules of punctuation and spelling; working knowledge of office terminology, practices, procedures, and equipment; ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide; ability to sort, arrange, and file material alphabetically or numerically; ability to locate materials in files; ability to operate standard office equipment; ability to follow oral or written instructions; ability to deal effectively with the public or office personnel; ability to obtain accurate and sufficient information from callers or visitors and to take messages; ability to use a personal computer for word processing and database entry; ability to type material from straight copy and as needed from rough draft or detailed instructions; ability to write legibly; record-keeping ability; ability to use a telephone in a courteous and efficient manner; clerical aptitude; accuracy; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma. NOTE: Where education is lacking, clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
