    Job Summary

    APTIM is seeking a highly experienced Health Physics/Radiological Control professional to support Deactivation, Decommissioning, and Removal (DD&R) program activities at the Kesselring Site and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, located in West Milton and Niskayuna, New York, respectively.

     

    We are looking for a dedicated individual to serve as the on-site Health Physics Field Coordinator, providing critical support to the project team in the implementation and oversight of the radiological protection program. The successful candidate will uphold the highest standards of technical performance and data integrity, ensuring full compliance with APTIM's procedures and the expectations of project stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Report to the Project Radiation Safety Officer and assist in coordinating Health Physics/Radiation Safety resources across both the Kesselring Site and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory.

    + Develop, review, and maintain project-specific Health Physics/Radiation Safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with 10 CFR 835 requirements.

    + Analyze historical and current radiological data to support effective planning and implementation of radiological controls.

    + Participate in the planning of radiological activities and coordinate required support, including personnel, instrumentation, and materials.

    + Oversee field Radiological Control Technicians to ensure alignment with project goals, safety standards, and work schedules.

    + Conduct and document radiological surveys as needed; compile, organize, and report radiological data accurately and promptly.

    + Manage the procurement, calibration, and maintenance of radiological instrumentation, dosimetry, and radiological supplies.

    + Support the comprehensive management of all radiological control aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with all elements of 10 CFR 835.

    + Provide training and guidance to personnel on radiological hazards, controls, and best safety practices.

    + Serve as a subject matter expert in Health Physics/Radiation Safety, interfacing with project management, clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in physical science, industrial hygiene, or engineering from an accredited institution.

    + Minimum of 7 years of operational health physics experience; experience with DOE facility decommissioning, dismantlement, and decontamination is preferred.

    + Strong working knowledge of DOE regulations, including 10 CFR 835 and related radiological control standards and guidance.

    + Ability to support on-site activities at both the Kesselring Site and Knolls Laboratory.

    + Willingness and ability to travel within the U.S. to support other projects (estimated 1--5 weeks per year).

    + Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.

    + Current 40-hour HAZWOPER certification with up-to-date annual refresher.

    + Ability to obtain and maintain medical clearance for unrestricted use of respiratory protection equipment.

    + Capable of working in modified Level D and Level C PPE, including respiratory protection.

    + Physically able to perform duties in both office and active construction environments, including walking, standing, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel, for administrative and reporting tasks.

    + Demonstrated proficiency in mathematical calculations, including algebra.

    As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $135,000 - $148,000 per Year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
