Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Medical Records Director with YesCare:
+ Maintain a documented, organized system as directed by the Maryland Department of Corrections, which safeguards and protects the integrity of all medical records while ensuring information is readily accessible to authorized staff and medical professional.
+ Direct all medical record activities and personnel pertinent to the assigned area.
+ Assist in policy/procedure/system development, analyzing, compiling, indexing and filing medical records. Submit timely reports to the Statewide Director of Medical Records as requested.
+ Implement established policies/procedures/ systems to provide efficient medical record services.
+ Ensure medical record information confidentiality through appropriate release of medical record documentation.
+ Ensure medical record availability.
+ Assign staff members to routinely review health records for signature/name stamp, dates, and time deficiencies and reports non-compliance of health care providers to the Medical Director, Director of Nursing and/or the Regional Administrator as appropriate.
+ Train and supervise clinical and medical record personnel in medical record procedures, protocols and guidelines.
+ Ensure that continuous quality improvement is evident and ongoing with regard to health information and medical record management.
+ Ensure that all medical record equipment is maintained. Prepare and submit supply/equipment requisitions for approval to Administrator.
+ Prepare and submit routine and special statistical reports.
+ Participate in the Quality Improvement program by attending meetings and reporting on data assigned for collection or in a capacity as requested.
+ Develop appropriate and ongoing monitoring of CQI programs.
+ Conduct ongoing chart audits to ensure quality and accuracy of patient records. Collect and submit information for monthly statistical reports.
+ Identify and assess areas that need improvement and participate in process improvement as needed. Represent the Medical Records Department at all appropriate medical and facility meetings.
+ Address all court/legal-related correspondence as it related to health records in a timely manner in accordance with established policies and procedures.
+ Ensure that medical records are prepared for court trials and serve as the medical records custodian when necessary.
+ Quarterly review Department of Correction guidelines and monitors for compliance.
+ Develop and implement corrective action plans for health records contract audit issues.
+ Prepare and participate in inter and intra-departmental in service education programs.
+ Assure medical record completion housed within facility.
+ Carry-out defined standards, legal requirements and regulations of regulatory agencies, government authorities, professions, and YesCare.
+ Manage staff activities, to include attendance, disciplinary action, policy and procedure compliance, performance review and training.
+ Ensure appropriate and quality orientation for all newly hired staff.
+ Attends Statewide Medical Records Meetings, M&M meetings, MAC meetings, and other conference call meetings as required.
+ Develop employee improvement programs, orientation programs and health records in-services for staff and staff orienteer.
+ Train and supervise clerical and medical record personnel in medical record procedures.
+ Perform other tasks required to carry out functions of the Medical Record Department and the Health Care Unit as required.
Key Qualifications
+ Graduate and current credentialed by the American Health Information Management Association program.
+ Must have passed the American Health Information Management Association examination (A.H.I.M.A.)
+ Registered Health Information Technologist (R.H.I.T.), or Registered Health Information Administrator (R.H.I.A.)
+ Maintain Credential Licensure and CPR certificate
+ Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in medical records and one year of supervisory experience. Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
+ Current CPR Certification.
+ A background check, security clearance and drug screening are required for this role.
