    **Summary** :

     

    The **Community Outreach and Program Specialist** supports SERVE’s Southeast K–12 healthcare career exploration programs across Southeastern North Carolina. Reporting to the

     

    Program Manager and working closely under the direction of the Program Coordinator, this role combines event logistics, classroom engagement, social media management, and scholarship program support. The Specialist will help design, deliver, and promote hands-on learning experiences—including health care career workshops, community fairs, and the SEEDS Scholarship Symposium—while also maintaining SERVE’s digital outreach and archival systems.

     

    **Responsibilities** :

    1. **Event Planning & Coordination**

    • Assist the Program Coordinator with logistical planning for all SERVE and SEEDS Scholarship events, acting as the secondary point of contact when needed.

    • Coordinate details for flagship events—ensuring venues, equipment, catering, volunteer schedules, and permits are secured.

    • Maintain and update a shared event calendar for all SERVE Southeast programs, flagging potential scheduling conflicts and communicating changes to stakeholders.

    2. **Classroom & School Engagement**

    • Support in the facilitation of engaging Health Care Exploration Workshops, emphasizing healthcare career pathways, jobs, and required education/training.

    • Represent SERVE at regional career fairs and education-focused community events, distributing promotional materials, answering questions, and capturing participant interest.

    • Support the coordination of guest speakers—both virtual and in-person—to enrich “On Call” career exploration sessions.

    3. **Social Media & Marketing**

    • Manage SERVE social media channels, ensuring content is timely, relevant, and tailored to K–12 students and their influencers (parents, teachers, counselors).

    • Monitor social media trends and best practices for youth engagement; recommend strategies to improve reach, impressions, and follower growth.

    • Create digital and print promotional assets—flyers, graphics, event banners—using Canva (or comparable web-based design tools) as directed by the Program Coordinator.

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Education, Public Health, or a related field (preferred).

    Licensure/Certification Requirements:

    • Stop the Bleed Instructor Certification preferred

    Professional Experience Requirements:

    • 1–2 years of program, event, or project coordination/administration experience—preferably in an educational, nonprofit, or healthcare-related environment.

    Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

    • Proven ability to manage social media accounts and create marketing collateral using web-based design tools (e.g., Canva).
