JOB SUMMARY
Join Marriott International’s Select Brand portfolio and contribute to the development and execution of strategic PR initiatives aligned with key critical business objectives. In this role, you will create and implement PR plans, develop press materials, and design integrated PR tools. You will collaborate with internal teams and external agencies, build media relationships, and support brand visibility through media storytelling and events. This position offers a valuable opportunity to shape the PR direction of globally recognized hospitality brands.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
_Required_
Bachelor’s degree in public relations or brand communications.
6+ years of relevant professional experience in public relations, media, or related function.
Ability to work from the MI Lab office located in New York City.
Flexibility and desire to travel and attend brand events and hotel openings globally.
_Preferred_
Knowledge of the media landscape across multiple consumer verticals, with an established network of media contacts across diverse consumer outlets. Proficient in social media and relationships with cultural influencers relevant to target audiences.
Demonstrated news first mind-set; able to create stories and content surrounding brands that is newsworthy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Lead the development of PR strategies across the Marriott International Select segment brand portfolio according to business goals and objectives. Run projects, including highly collaborative campaigns across marketing, social, and partnerships to strategically shape integrated campaigns in ways that maximize PR impact and press coverage.
Oversee and drive large-scale, integrated campaigns in partnership with marketing, social, partnerships, and digital teams—guiding creative direction and ensuring PR impact is a core driver of brand visibility across these campaigns.
Plan, direct, and oversee the activation and implementation of annual public relations plans, providing strategic counsel to internal cross-functional partners and external agencies to ensure alignment with the broader PR strategy.
Oversee the creation, editing and development of brand PR materials including messaging, news releases, executive briefs, external talking points, FAQs, presentations and pitches, among other assets, ensuring consistency in brand voice and quality.
Establish measurement frameworks, monitor performance, and deliver timely, strategic insights and recommendations to senior management based on campaign results.
Partner with brand teams, digital and social teams, corporate communications and external agencies to advance PR goals, ensuring collaboration delivers consistent, top-tier press coverage across consumer, lifestyle, and travel media
Cultivate and expand senior-level professional media relationships across consumer, lifestyle, business, and travel verticals to consistently and effectively secure brand coverage, including representing Marriott brands in meetings with top-tier journalists and outlets.
Manage incoming media requests, ensuring timely, accurate, and strategically aligned responses.
Conduct proactive and reactive media outreach, including the pitching of brand feature stories, thought leadership opportunities, and high-value editorial placements.
Develop key press materials, including briefing documents and talking points, in addition to guiding the development of scalable brand PR toolkits for global and cross-channel use.
Lead the strategy, production, and execution of media events from beginning to end, including defining event objectives, securing media attendees, drafting materials, building itineraries, and serving as senior media point-of-contact.
Guide the creation of monthly proactive pitch calendars informed by global cultural trends, consumer insights, and editorial opportunities.
Proactively collaborate with continent PR counterparts to compile, prepare, and share monthly, quarterly, and annual reports with strategic recommendations for brand stakeholders.
Oversee and manage external PR agencies, including setting priorities, aligning deliverables, and evaluating performance.
Mentor and support junior team members, fostering professional development and enhancing team capability across PR strategy, media engagement, and campaign execution.
The salary range for this position is $119,100 to $160,800 annually. Marriott offers a bonus program, comprehensive health care benefits, 401(k) plan with up to 5% company match, employee stock purchase plan at 15% discount, accrued paid time off (including sick leave where applicable), life insurance, group disability insurance, travel discounts, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, health savings account (except for positions based out of or performed in Hawaii), flexible spending accounts, tuition assistance, pre-tax commuter benefits, other life and work wellness benefits, and may include other incentives such as stock awards and deferred compensation plans.
