    Vice President of Administration and Finance

    POSITION DETAILS

    Bronx Community College, established in 1957, relocated to its current location in 1973, sits on a tranquil and beautiful 44 - acre historic campus in the University Heights section of the Bronx, one of the five vibrant boroughs of New York City. The Vice President for Administration and Finance provides the vision and leadership to manage the College’s operating and capital budgets; pursues innovative business solutions to enhance the overall effectiveness of the College’s financial and administrative operations; works collaboratively with senior staff, faculty, administrators, and external constituents to achieve sustainable plans that maximize institutional goals. Reporting to the President of the College, the Vice President is a member of the President’s Cabinet and an advisor to the President and executive staff on fiscal affairs. The Vice President of Administration and Finance is also a member of the President’s Strategy and Implementation Team, a member of the College Personnel and Budget Committee, College Senate and may be a member of the College Crisis Management Team.

    The Vice President is responsible for the following:

    + Budget and Planning: Responsible for financial planning and budgeting, developing models and forecasting long-term financial projections, and ensuring compliance with College, University and State regulations.

    + Ensures that all financial and administrative functions of the College are performing optimally.

    + Ensures that all College and University fiscal policies are adhered to and that all appropriate procedures are codified, implemented and reinforced.

    + Develops and implements business and administrative policies and procedures consistent with the University’s Office of the Chancellor and Board of Trustees.

    + Provides regular financial management reports to the President and to those responsible for financial management operations at the University.

    + Develops an annual division-wide plan to support the College’s strategic plan.

    + Financial Operations: Strategically and collaboratively enhances the college’s financial strength through fiscal analysis, monitoring, planning and reporting, and provides business and financial services to the campus community through offices as general accounting, accounts receivables,accounts payable, grant and contract accounting, purchasing, travel, asset management, Auxiliary Enterprises Corporation and Bursar. He/she ensures that offices manage the receipt, custody and disbursement of funds according to University requirements.

    + Human Resources: Partners with academic and administrative departments to recruit and retain a talented and diverse workforce, and manages benefits administration, organizational and professional development, payroll administration and employee recognition programs.

    + Ensures appropriate risk assessment, management and controls; developing creative funding models and strategies; keeping abreast of industry trends, best practices, and successful strategies; maintaining a high profile in the College and the community and striving to make frequent contact with administrators, students, faculty, staff, community leaders and citizens to share information and engage in shared problem-solving; and participating in key College committees.

    + Provides strategic leadership within the context of the mission of the College and the University, the President’s guidance, institutional priorities, a strong system of shared governance, and best practices in higher education to ensure the division continues to meet the highest standards; works in partnership with senior leadership and key campus constituents to organize and bridge financial and administrative data with various other data sources to promote data-informed decision-making that optimizes the use of College resources; cultivates positive working relationships across the College to build customer confidence; promotes a culture of customer service, innovation, and quality services for employees and students.

    + Collaborates and committed to partnering with University leadership on campus operational and infrastructure needs.

    + Establishes open communication with CUNY Central leadership ensuring transparency and responsiveness, ultimately leading to timely decision making.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    This position is in CUNY’s Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and eight years’ related experience. Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.

     

    + The ideal candidate should have a minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible leadership experience for fiscal management and administration, with the proven capacity to manage a diverse administrative portfolio. Experience in a publicly funded higher education institution is a plus.

    + Applicants should possess significant experience as a senior executive in a higher education, government or business organization of relevant size and complexity with financial, business, capital planning, and project management responsibilities.

    + Applicants should also be familiar with a wide variety of financing and revenue generating techniques including public/private ventures and partnerships, and a record of significant leadership and involvement in planning and overseeing major construction and development projects in multi-campus locations is desirable.

    + An advanced degree, with preference given to candidates with a graduate degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a closely related field is preferred.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    Salary Range $185,000 - $195,000 Commensurate with education and experience.
